Watering hope: Empowering Communities through Hand Pump Installation
In the heart of Paschim Sarbong ADC village lies New Kasko, Amarpur, Gomati Tripura. Approximately 13 km from Amarpur City and 95 km from Agartala. A vibrant community brimming with life and potential. Yet, beneath its lively facade, lies a critical issue – the lack of access to clean drinking water. For far too long, the residents of New Kasko have grappled with the burden of fetching water from deep tube wells, situated far from the area.
The plight of the villagers came to our attention through the dedicated efforts of our local representative from the Lamphunuknai Trust (LPT). Witnessing firsthand the struggles endured by the community members, our LPT member promptly brought the matter to our attention.
Upon closer investigation, it became evident that the absence of proper drinking facilities posed a significant challenge to the well-being of the residents. Upon learning of the dire situation in New Kasko, our NGO swiftly mobilized resources and expertise to devise a sustainable solution. Through thorough deliberation and assessment of the prevailing conditions, it was unanimously decided to install a hand pump as a reliable source of clean drinking water. This decision was guided by our unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for underserved communities and ensuring equitable access to essential services.
In the face of challenges posed before the COVID-19 lockdown in March 2020, our NGO persevered to complete the installation of a vital resource for the community of new Kasko.
On 20/03/2020, just before the onset of the lockdown, the hand pump installation project was successfully executed. This initiative aimed to provide sustainable water access to 35 individuals across 11 families, namely Karna Kishore, Tarani Kumar, Nikunja Sadhan, Chaitanya Sadhan, Dula Singha, Mangal Singha, Dhanadharjya, Shakti Sadhan, Padma Kishore, Mangal Bahadur, and Chandrasen Jamatia.
From 24/03/2020 onwards, the beneficiaries will began to enjoy the benefits of the newly installed hand pump, marking a significant improvement in their access to clean water. While our team LPT had initially planned to organize an official camp to inaugurate the hand pump and extend its services to the beneficiaries, the unfortunate timing of the COVID-19 lockdown thwarted our plans. Despite this setback, our commitment to serving communities remains steadfast, and we continue to explore avenues to support and uplift those in need.
Through collaborative efforts and the support of our donors and partners, we aim to undertake more projects that address critical needs and contribute to the sustainable development of communities like New Kasko. Thank you to everyone who has supported us in making a tangible difference in the lives of others. Together, we can create a brighter, healthier future for all.
