Standing in Solidarity: UTF’s Response to Tragedy in Melaghar South Twibandal
On June 8th, 2024, a heartbreaking tragedy struck Melaghar South Twibandal ADC village. As three brave individuals attempted to purify the contaminated water from a tubewell near Neoramura JB School, they tragically lost their lives due to a lack of oxygen. The community mourns the loss of Sukramani Murasing, Shambu Kr. Debbarma, and Ashok Kr. Tripura, whose untimely deaths have left their families devastated.
In response to this sorrowful event, the United Tiprasa Forum (UTF) stepped forward to support the grieving families on 18th June 2024. Led by local UTF member Mrs. Sabita Rani Murasing, the UTF team visited the families to offer their deepest condolences and provide moral support. UTF President Sajal Debbarma, along with the team, also distributed essential provisions like rations and other necessities to help alleviate the immediate hardships faced by the bereaved families.
The loss has profoundly affected the community, particularly the families of the deceased. Ashok Kr. Tripura’s parents are overwhelmed with grief, struggling to cope with their young son’s sudden death. Shambu Kr. Tripura’s wife faces the daunting challenge of caring for their two young children and managing their unfinished home. Most tragically, Sukramani Murasing’s family, already burdened by the mother’s mental illness and the absence of the father, now faces the immense responsibility of raising four young children in dire living conditions.
In the face of such adversity, the United Tiprasa Forum is committed to supporting these families not just with material aid but also by offering hope. UTF aims to utilize resources wisely and ensure the well-being of the children left behind, honouring the memory of those who perished. They call upon the community to extend compassion and support to the bereaved families during this difficult time.
As the UTF team departed from the grief-stricken homes, they left behind a message of resilience and caution. They urged the families to find solace and move forward carefully, using any aid received to prioritize the education and future of their children. The UTF promised continued support, encouraging families to reach out if they face difficulties in providing education for their children.
With heavy hearts, the UTF team departed, vowing to stand by the bereaved families and offer unwavering support in their time of need.
