A Proud Moment for Tripura: Mr. Chandrakanta to Represent India at the Asian Muaythai Championship
In a moment of immense pride for Tripura, Mr. Chandrakanta Debbarma, a talented athlete from Hatkata in Khowai district, has been selected anonymously by the United Amateur Muaythai Association – India (UAMAI) to represent the nation in the prestigious Asian Muaythai Championship. The championship will take place in Macau, China, from December 4th to 10th, 2018, and is a significant event, as it serves as a qualifier for the 2019 Arafura Games and the World Games.
Mr. Debbarma’s selection to represent India in the -60kg weight category speaks volumes about his dedication, skill, and perseverance in the field of Muaythai. A seasoned athlete, he has been a medalist in the National Championship for the past three consecutive years, showcasing his exceptional talent and hard work in the sport. His participation in this high-level international competition under the banner of the International Federation of Muaythai Amateur (IFMA) – an organization recognized by the International Olympic Council (IOC) – brings great honor to not only his home state of Tripura but also to India on the global stage.
However, despite his remarkable achievements and the opportunity to compete at such a prestigious championship, Mr. Debbarma faced a significant challenge – a financial shortage that threatened his participation in the event. Recognizing the importance of his representation at the Asian Muaythai Championship and the pride it would bring to Tripura and the nation, Mr. Debbarma reached out to the United Tiprasa Forum (UTF) for assistance.
Upon receiving his application for help, the team at UTF promptly reviewed the matter, verifying the information and discussing the issue within the organization. Understanding the importance of supporting talented athletes like Mr. Debbarma, UTF decided to extend a helping hand. On November 23, 2018, Team UTF handed over financial support to Mr. Chandrakanta Debbarma to enable him to participate in the Asian Muaythai Championship.
UTF would like to take this opportunity to express sincere gratitude to all the generous donors who responded to the appeal for donations and contributed toward Mr. Debbarma’s journey to Macau. Your support not only made his dream of competing at the Asian Muaythai Championship a reality but also helped bring pride to Tripura and India on the international stage.
Mr. Debbarma’s success will serve as an inspiration to many young athletes, especially from marginalized communities, to strive for excellence and overcome obstacles with determination and resilience. Team UTF is proud to be part of this historic moment, and we look forward to celebrating Mr. Debbarma’s achievements as he competes with the best in Asia.
As Mr. Debbarma gears up for the championship, let us all stand behind him, cheering for his success and showing our unwavering support for his efforts to bring glory to India. His journey is a testament to the power of community, perseverance, and the collective effort to uplift deserving talent.
