Rebuilding Lives: UTF’s Commitment to Community
In the heart of Manikya Kami, Killa, Udaipur, under the Gomati district, Tripura, resides Radharani Debbarma (Jamatia), a widowed woman who has endured years of solitude and neglect following the loss of her husband. Abandoned by her children, Radharani found herself living in a small, dilapidated home, devoid of the warmth and security one deserves in their twilight years.
The United Tiprasa Forum (UTF) first encountered Radharani’s plight on September 27th, 2020, during the celebration of our third foundation day near her village. Witnessing her dire circumstances, our members were moved with compassion and resolved to provide her with a proper shelter.
Despite the challenges, our team embarked on the noble endeavour of constructing a new home for Radharani. With an estimated cost of Rs. 35,000, the project commenced on March 4th, 2021, under the dedicated supervision of volunteer Mr. Yudisthir Jamatia. Through dedication and hard work, the construction was completed ahead of schedule, on March 11th, 2021, at a total expenditure of Rs. 41,000.
On Saturday, March 13th, 2021, we officially handed over the newly constructed home to Radharani Debbarma (Jamatia), organizing a small program to commemorate the occasion. Additionally, recognizing her need for basic necessities, the team provided her with clothing, along with other old aged members of the village offering a semblance of comfort and dignity in her later years.
This endeavor epitomizes UTF’s unwavering commitment to rebuilding lives and fostering community bonds. As we reflect on this journey, we are reminded of the transformative power of collective action and compassion. Radharani’s story serves as a testament to the impact we can achieve when we come together with a shared purpose – to uplift those in need and create a more inclusive society.
In the years to come, United Tiprasa Forum will continue to stand as a beacon of hope, extending our hands and hearts to those who seek solace and support. Together, we will continue to rebuild lives, one home, one heart at a time.
