Returning Govinda Home: UTF’s Supportive Response in Crisis
Govinda Tripura, the son of Khraja Ram Tripura, resided in Dalpati Para, Post Office: New Dalpati Para, Police Station: Gandacherra, Subdivision: Gandacherra, District: Dhalai, Tripura. Govinda had traveled to Assam for construction work to support his family. During the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown, his condition worsened due to jaundice, leading to his untimely demise at Mahendra Mohan Chowdhury Hospital in Guwahati at approximately 1 AM.
Following Govinda’s passing, hospital authorities awaited the results of his COVID-19 test before releasing his body. According to protocol, a positive result would necessitate funeral arrangements in Guwahati, while a negative result would permit release for transport. The contractor overseeing Govinda assured us of his commitment to facilitate transporting the body to Churaibari, Tripura.
Upon receiving news of Govinda’s death, the UTF team engaged in extensive discussions with his family. We provided comprehensive assistance to navigate hospital and local administrative procedures swiftly and efficiently.
On 13th May 2020, after completing all necessary hospital and local administrative protocols, the body was released, and arrangements were made for transportation back to Tripura. Govinda’s father traveled from Gandacherra to Churaibari to receive his son’s body, with UTF offering crucial support in coordination and communication to ensure the safe return home.
Govinda Tripura ventured to Assam to support his family, tragically not returning alive. His untimely demise deeply affected his wife, child, and parents. Despite profound grief and numerous challenges, with UTF’s assistance, the family was able to conduct funeral rites in their village.
