UTF Brings Aid and Hope to Flood and Landslide Victims in Raishyabari and Surrounding Relief Camps

On the morning of August 30, 2024, a dedicated team from the United Tiprasa Forum (UTF) visited three flood- and landslide-affected relief camps in Tripura: Raishyabari Class-XII School Relief Camp, 8 No. Dyke Relief Camp, and Boalkhali Relief Camp. In the wake of record-breaking rains that devastated the region, UTF arrived with essential supplies, aiming to bring not only material support but also a message of solidarity, love, and compassion.

The recent floods and landslides have ravaged large parts of Tripura, particularly in remote, interior regions far from the state capital. Thousands of residents have been severely affected, many of whom are now homeless. UTF recognizes the unique challenges these areas face, often compounded by limited access to essential services. The UTF team, motivated by a deep commitment to community welfare, extended their support to around 100 individuals from 42 families.

During this visit, UTF distributed a range of essential relief items to address the immediate needs of those displaced. The supplies included staple rations and various food items such as eggs, dal, mustard oil, and soybean. Additionally, UTF provided clothing to help those who lost nearly everything in the disaster. These relief items were carefully selected to meet the nutritional and practical needs of families who have been struggling in makeshift shelters.

UTF’s outreach goes beyond immediate aid—it carries a message of unity and resilience. In addressing the camp residents, UTF team members reassured the community: “During your difficult times, you are not alone. We and our team are with you in every possible way.” This message of empathy and commitment brought a ray of hope to the affected families, letting them know they have a support system to lean on.

Tripura’s remote and interior regions, especially areas like Raishyabari, are often overlooked, given the logistical challenges in reaching them. However, UTF’s visit reflects its mission to prioritize even the most isolated communities, ensuring that no one is left behind in times of crisis. The team’s dedication in overcoming geographic and infrastructural barriers highlights the organization’s commitment to supporting every person affected.

As UTF continues its relief efforts, it aims to expand its reach to more affected areas and address the needs of every impacted family. The organization’s steadfast dedication to service and empathy underscores its broader mission to foster resilience within the community.
