UTF NGO Provides Educational Sponsorship to a Needy Merit Student

UTF NGO has extended a helping hand to Miss Khumbar Debbarma, a bright and hardworking second-year Electronics & Communication Engineering student at NIT Agartala, who has been facing severe financial difficulties. Miss Khumbar, from Bania Kami, Lefunga, Mohanpur, was on the verge of giving up her studies due to overwhelming financial constraints, despite her academic excellence.

Miss Khumbar is the eldest daughter of Mr. Debraj Debbarma, a private primary school teacher who suffers from diabetes. In his earnest effort to support her education, Mr. Debbarma had taken a loan of ₹36,000 from a microfinance institution at the time of her college admission. In August, he was forced to take another loan of ₹37,000 from a public finance institution at an interest rate of 10%. Unfortunately, the family has not yet received any government scholarships, and the burden of paying two monthly EMIs, along with managing her father’s medical expenses, has left them in a difficult financial situation.

Unable to cope with the escalating financial burden, Khumbar and her father approached UTF NGO on October 2nd, submitting a formal application for assistance to the organization’s president. After a thorough inquiry into her situation, UTF NGO promptly responded by sanctioning an educational sponsorship for Miss Khumbar Debbarma.

As part of this sponsorship, UTF NGO has committed to providing a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 to help cover her basic needs. Additionally, UTF has generously provided her with a laptop to assist in her studies and will cover 50% of her yearly hostel fees, amounting to ₹60,000.

On Sunday, October 6th, during a small event organized by the UTF team, the educational sponsorship letter, a laptop, stipend, and pen notebooks were officially handed over to Miss Khumbar Debbarma. This timely intervention will allow her to continue her education without further disruption, ensuring she can focus on achieving her academic goals.

UTF NGO remains committed to supporting students like Khumbar, who are in need of financial assistance to pursue their education. The organization firmly believes that financial barriers should never stand in the way of a student’s future and is proud to provide a platform for students to succeed despite challenging circumstances.
