UTF Organizes Enriching Excursion for Students of Ramkumar Para SB School, Karbook, South Tripura
On February 28, 2021, United Tiprasa Forum (UTF) organized an enriching excursion for the students of Ramkumar Para SB School, Karbook, located in an interior village of South Tripura. With limited exposure beyond the classroom and textbooks, these students often lack opportunities for broader learning experiences. Recognizing this gap, our team at UTF arranged a special trip to Agartala, aiming to inspire curiosity, broaden their understanding, and provide meaningful learning experiences outside the classroom.
Arriving in Agartala at around 10:00 a.m., our UTF team warmly welcomed the students and their teachers at Heritage Park, Kunjaban. The students began their day with a nutritious breakfast provided by UTF, fueling them for an exciting day ahead. They explored the picturesque Heritage Park, where they could observe various sculptures, manicured gardens, and displays representing Tripura’s rich history and culture. For the next two and a half hours, students immersed themselves in the park’s beauty and history, many of them experiencing such an environment for the first time.
At 12:30 p.m., the group was treated to a delicious lunch near the International Fair Ground in Hapania, Agartala, where the students could relax, reflect on their morning experiences, and recharge for the next leg of their journey.
By 2:00 p.m., the students arrived at the Agartala Book Fair, an annual event showcasing literature from Tripura and beyond. The Book Fair provided a golden opportunity for students to explore countless books across a range of subjects, genres, and languages. They enthusiastically visited various book stalls, examining books and learning about the purpose and cultural significance of a book fair.
Special attention was given to the Kokborok literature stalls, including “Kokborok Hukumu Mission” and “Kokborok Sahitya Sabha,” where students explored the vibrant Kokborok literature of their region. Here, a small interaction session was organized with two renowned Kokborok writers and researchers, respected Sir Binoy Debbarma and Sir Bikashrai Debbarma. Both authors encouraged students to develop a habit of reading and emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting Kokborok literature. They also shared insights into the beauty and depth of the Kokborok language, motivating students to take pride in their heritage.
As a gesture of support for the students’ interest in learning, the book stalls generously distributed a few free books among the students. Additionally, UTF purchased several Kokborok and general knowledge books and distributed them to the students, further encouraging their love for reading and learning.
The success of this educational excursion was made possible by the cooperation of numerous individuals and organizations. UTF extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector of Schools, Karbook, and Ramkumar Para SB School for granting permission for the students to participate in this event. Special thanks are extended to Sir Binoy Debbarma and Sir Bikashrai Debbarma for their inspiring interaction with the students and for sharing their invaluable knowledge on Kokborok literature.
Through this excursion, UTF aims to inspire the next generation of learners, broaden their perspectives, and encourage them to strive for knowledge beyond textbooks. The enthusiastic response from students and their eagerness to explore new experiences affirm UTF’s commitment to fostering educational opportunities for the youth of Tripura.
