UTF’s First Residential House Construction Project: A New Home for Laisem Reang and Her Children

Ambassa, Dhalai, Tripura – December 9, 2018 – In an inspiring act of kindness and unity, the United Tiprasa Forum (UTF) today proudly inaugurated and handed over a newly constructed residential house to Laisem Reang, a 39-year-old mother of three from 5 Mile, Ambassa. This house construction project marks UTF’s first-ever home-building initiative, funded entirely by generous donations from UTF members and supporters, with a total project budget of ₹1,26,000.

The recipient, Laisem Reang, a divorced woman with no steady source of income, has faced significant hardship while raising her three children alone. The family was living in a dilapidated bamboo hut that could barely provide shelter from the elements, leaving them vulnerable to rain, intense heat, and cold winter fog. Due to a lack of required government documentation, Laisem and her children had been unable to access government housing support, intensifying their struggle for a secure living space.

A few months ago, UTF was made aware of Laisem’s plight when a member brought her case to the organization’s attention. Moved by the urgency of her situation, UTF conducted a thorough investigation, confirming the family’s needs. Recognizing the urgency, UTF’s core team unanimously approved the house construction project with an initial budget of ₹1,20,000, and construction commenced in the first week of November.

The project was completed in record time—within one month—as UTF remained committed to meeting the pressing needs of this family. Although final expenses slightly exceeded the initial budget, reaching ₹1,26,000, UTF members and well-wishers came together to cover the additional costs, underscoring their unwavering commitment to supporting those in need.

At the inauguration ceremony, UTF team members shared their joy in seeing Laisem and her children receive the keys to their new home. For Laisem, this new residence signifies much more than just a shelter; it offers safety, stability, and the hope of a brighter future. The UTF team expressed deep gratitude to all members and supporters whose donations made this project a reality.

This inaugural project has set a meaningful precedent for UTF, reflecting the organization’s dedication to serving vulnerable members of the community and highlighting the impact of collective generosity and community spirit. With this new home, Laisem and her children can now live in security and dignity, protected from the elements and able to look toward a hopeful future.

UTF’s Commitment to Social Impact and Future Projects

As UTF moves forward, this successful house construction project reinforces the organization’s commitment to uplifting the lives of those facing hardship. UTF is dedicated to continuing efforts like these, building on this achievement to assist other families in need across Tripura.

UTF extends its heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this project possible and to all those who believe in UTF’s mission of bringing about positive change through compassion, teamwork, and action.

This project demonstrates UTF’s ongoing commitment to helping families like Laisem’s find stability and hope, inspiring the organization to initiate more such projects to support marginalized communities across the region.
