On November 10, 2024, we proudly held a ceremony to recognize the successful completion of a 21-day internship by two talented students, Ms. Sangita Chakma and Ms. Sima Debbarma, from the Master of Rural Studies program at Tripura University. The internship, supervised by our NGO President Mr. Sajal Debbarma, ran from October 20 to November 9, 2024, allowing the interns to immerse themselves in real-world projects aimed at community development and rural upliftment.
During the ceremony held at the our office at 11:00 a.m., Mr. Sajal Debbarma presented certificates of completion to Ms. Sangita and Ms. Sima, acknowledging their hard work and dedication over the course of the internship. Their efforts contributed significantly to our mission of empowering rural and underprivileged communities in Tripura.
Internship Tasks and Contributions
Ms. Sangita and Ms. Sima engaged in a series of impactful tasks, including case studies, documentation, data collection, awareness-building, and fundraising activities. Each assignment provided them with practical experience in addressing rural development challenges and understanding community needs.
Case Study Analysis of Housing Projects: One of the primary tasks undertaken by the interns was a case study review of our previous housing construction projects, which aimed to provide secure shelter to marginalized families. They visited and documented the experiences of beneficiaries, including Mr. Kritimohan Tripura of Kowaiphang, Santirbazar, Mr. Shibu Debbarma of Thandacharra, Killa, and Ms. Radharani Debbarma (Jamatia) from Manikya Kami, Killa in the Gomati District. By gathering detailed feedback from these families, the interns contributed to an assessment of our housing projects, which will inform future improvements in project design and execution.
Article Writing and Documentation: The interns were tasked with compiling and documenting our past projects, such as Free Coaching Classes, Educational Sponsorships, and Health-Care Initiatives. Their assignment was to capture the essence of each initiative, its objectives, outcomes, and community impact. They worked under a tight five-day deadline, showcasing their ability to produce well-researched and organized content. Their documentation will serve as a valuable resource for us in reporting to stakeholders and attracting further support for its community-oriented initiatives.
Data Collection on Recent Floods in Tripura: Responding to our interest in understanding the effects of recent floods in South Tripura, the interns visited the Kalibazar Panchayet area in Kalacharra, Sabroom. Here, they interviewed flood victims, gathered data on the extent of damage, and documented the immediate needs of affected families. Their findings will support our ongoing relief efforts and help the NGO identify potential interventions to build resilience against future flooding events.
Awareness and Motivation for Young Students: The interns also conducted an awareness and motivation session with young students at Radhacharan Thakur Para J.B. School in Champabari village, West Tripura. Engaging with the children, they shared inspirational stories and encouraged them to pursue education and personal growth. This session was aimed at fostering a positive mindset among students, many of whom face socioeconomic challenges that impact their education.
Donation Collection Drive: To further their fundraising skills, Ms. Sangita and Ms. Sima were tasked with a donation collection drive, aimed at raising awareness about our work and garnering public support. They met their targets by reaching out to the community, effectively communicating our mission, and inspiring people to contribute to the cause. Their success in this task demonstrated their effective communication skills and dedication to supporting our work.
