UTF NGO Successfully Rescues and Repatriates Ms. Biswarani Jamatia
On the morning of February 12, 2024, the UTF team received an urgent call from Ms. Biswarani Jamatia, a young woman from Teliamura, Khowai, Tripura. Ms. Jamatia had relocated to Delhi for financial reasons but found herself in distress due to severe health issues. Employed as a domestic worker, her employer denied her rest and medical attention, despite her deteriorating condition. Desperate, she reached out to UTF for assistance.
Responding swiftly, the UTF president gathered crucial information about Ms. Jamatia’s workplace. Utilizing the UTF network in Delhi and contacts at the same agency, the team coordinated a rapid rescue operation with the support of local government authorities. By February 13, the rescue team successfully located and rescued Ms. Biswarani Jamatia, handing her over to the UTF team.
Upon receiving her, the UTF team immediately attended to her needs, providing clothing, shelter, and food to ensure her well-being and comfort. This unwavering commitment highlights UTF’s dedication to supporting those in need.
On February 16, Ms. Biswarani Jamatia was escorted back to Tripura by UTF team member Mr. Birugan Tripura and a Delhi police officer. At Agartala Airport, UTF Secretary Mr. Dinesh Debbarma and Ms. Tanusree Debbarma facilitated her journey back to Teliamura, ensuring her safe return home where she reunited with her parents.
